- Sunglasses
- Sun hat
- Men – No ties required. Dressy shirts, linen shirts, linen pants, etc. are appropriate for the day of the bat-mitzvah.
- Men – Please bring a Tallis if you have one. It would be lovely to wear this for the bat-mitzvah ceremony the morning of June 19.
- Women – Please pack a skirt that is below the knee and keep something to cover your shoulders in your bag for visits to religious sites. Jerusalem dress is more modest than anywhere else in Israel. You will likely feel more comfortable in shirts that cover your shoulders as you walk around the Old City, and short-shorts are not appropriate. Please dress modestly for the bat-mitzvah ceremony at the Western Wall the morning ofJune 19. In Tel Aviv and up north, anything goes.
- Bat-mitzvah party – evening of June 19 – think Arabian nights!! We will be in a tent in the desert! Elegant, flowing, colorful!! High heels are not recommended unless they are chunky or wedges. Flats or bare feet are welcome! Please make sure to bring a sweater as desert nights can be very cool.
- Temperature during the days can be in the 80s or 90s – please make sure to wear sunscreen and a hat and to drink lots of water.
- Temperature during the nights can be in the very low 60s – please bring a sweater or jacket. We will be dining outside most evenings.
- Please note that you will want to wear a beach cover-up to walk from the hotel pools to your rooms in the hotels.
- Light weight long sleeve shirts are recommended for sun protection, especially when we climb Masada where high temperatures can exceed 100 degrees and there is no shade.
- A day pack or fanny pack is recommended.
- Pack a bathing suit and shoes for the beach.
- Bring a camera if you have one so you can get the most out of our photography lesson in Tel Aviv.
- Please note that swimming in the Dead Sea is an amazing experience and not to be missed. That being said, if you have any exposed cuts or wounds, you will be much more comfortable if you cover them with a waterproof bandaid prior to entering the water as the extremely salty water will make them sting. Also, please be advised that young girls may find swimming in the salt water uncomfortable, so enter the water slowly and be prepared to run for the fresh water shower :).
- Our bus will be stocked with bottled water, pistachio nuts, dried and fresh fruit, cookies and granola bars as well as wet wipes, bandaids, and tissues.
